Blending Essential Oils
A few points must be kept in mind while making a blend of essential oils. The first and foremost point is that the oils must be of superior quality. The really pure essential oils which have no impure ingredients mixed in them will always come at a higher price than the cheap imitates. If you are planning to prepare a blend of two essential oils then make sure you buy good quality essential oils otherwise your blend will not serve any purpose. The next point when it comes to creating a blend of essential oils is that fragrance and features of both the essential oils must complement each other.

In order to determine whether the fragrance of two essential oils complement each other you have to learn more about the classification of the fragrances of the oils. Usually the essential oils are classified according to their fragrance into woody, citrus, spicy, floral, mint, and earthy and many such other groups. Now a woody fragrance can compliment any other fragrance and hence a woody fragrant essential oil may be combined with any type of essential oil. On the other hand essential oils with a citrus fragrance will only go well with a floral or spicy smelling essential oil.
Usual blends
Chamomile is usually blended with any fruity smelling essential oil to create a soothing essential oil blend. Lavender which is a very common essential oil is sometimes combined with a spicy essential oil to liven up the atmosphere in the room.
While preparing an essential oil blend it should be remembered that the oils must be in diluted form. While purchasing the essential oils it is a good idea to convey the purpose of the purchase of the oil to the seller so that he can guide you towards buying the perfect kind of essential oils. Essential oils are not one hundred percent safe for pets and pregnant women. Also essential oils are mainly for external use, they should not be taken internally unless recommended by a doctor.
Essential oils are made purely from the natural ingredients present in plants. These oils are extracted from different parts of a plant like root, stem, flower, bud and leaf and the process of extraction is called “distillation process”.
